Education

With over 26 years of experience in Land Surveying, I’ve gained some valuable skills. Here is a partial list of the key skills I’ve obtained.
  • Field procedures using conventional and modern equipment
  • Office calculations using conventional and modern techniques and methodologies
  • Advanced AutoCAD-based capabilities for calculations and procedural standards
  • Boundary resolution based within the Public Land Survey System (PLSS)
  • Computer hardware and software in Windows and Linux (web) environments

Technical Skills

Having supervised and/or managed employees in various scenarios, I have a good understanding of what it takes to lead a team of Land Surveyors and work together with related departments, third-party services, regulations and clients.
  • Co-managed a Survey department for a large firm consisting of approximately 25 employees
  • Co-developed hybrid management system for the Survey department of a large firm
  • Met with employees to discuss performance, lay-offs and hiring
  • Developed and reviewed budgets for small private projects as well as large municipal projects

Management

Communication is important in every aspect of Land Surveying to make sure projects and departments run smoothly. This includes effective mentoring and training to fellow professionals wishing to advance and improve themselves.
  • Provided mentoring and training sessions for motivated employees
  • Developed standards and tutorials for CAD-related procedures as they related to Land Surveying
  • Maintained relationships with clients and third parties for private municipal projects of all sizes

Over the years, I’ve had the good fortune of working on some interesting projects in various locations in the West. Here’s a sampling:
